Course Highlights

This Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course follows the original intensive two-week format created by Bill Mollison, combining theoretical lessons, practical workshops, field trips, interactive games, dynamic activities, experience sharing, and community living. Topics covered include:

• Principles and ethics of permaculture
• Reading landscapes and understanding natural patterns and cycles
• Ecosystem principles, climate, and biogeography in permaculture
• Design principles, including analysis processes, zoning, and efficient energy planning
• Resource identification, water management, soil mobilization, and ground cover
• Building healthy soil and establishing gardens, forests, woodlands, orchards, and agroforests
• Seed conservation and collection
• Designing windbreaks, firebreaks, and barriers against agrochemicals
• Healthy housing and natural building materials
• Appropriate technologies, including composting toilets, solar dehydrators, and alternative energies
• Introduction to designing sustainable communities and eco-villages
• Ecological sanitation and wastewater treatment
• Rainwater harvesting
• Water in the landscape: earthworks, dams, lakes, ponds, and ecological swimming pools

Certification

Participants must attend at least 80% of the course to receive a certificate. This involves immersing in permaculture design principles, culminating in the presentation of a final design project.
