Learning to ride a bike should be one of the happiest memories of a childhood. My kids cycling sessions in Lisbon are designed around exactly that idea: giving children the time, space and right equipment to discover cycling through free play, in a safe and encouraging environment where the learning follows the child rather than the other way around. No pressure, no tears, no sore backs from running alongside a bike. Just children playing their way into something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

The sessions work for children at every stage. For those who have never tried balancing on a bike or who have tried and not quite got there yet, this cycling class provides a gentle and confidence-building first introduction. For children who already pedal independently, the sessions create the conditions to develop control, coordination and skill at their own pace. Games and activities are designed to work on multiple motor skills, both general and cycling-specific, always within a playful and exploratory framework. The learning is child-led and supported throughout.<\/p>\n

All bikes are provided by Escola de Bicicleta da Cenas a Pedal and are high quality Woom models, available with and without pedals to match different ages and stages. No need to bring anything.<\/p>

I am Ana Pereira, a certified Cycle Training Instructor since 2008 and CyclingSavvy Expert Advanced certified since 2022, with over seventeen years of professional experience teaching cycling and more than twenty years of daily cycling as my primary means of transport. I am also the author of the first and most comprehensive digital cycling training courses in Portugal. What I bring to every Velo-Brincar session is a deep understanding of how children learn movement and a genuine belief that the right environment makes all the difference between a child who loves cycling and one who never quite gets there.<\/p>\n

No prior cycling experience needed.
