Pottery wheel and handbuilding workshop in Cascais with Catherine Portal, an English and French ceramicist who has lived and worked in Cascais since the mid 1980s specialising in high-fired stoneware, a five-session programme of three hours each at 260 euros exploring both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques in a relaxed and genuinely creative studio environment. Groups of maximum six participants with personalised guidance throughout. Whether you are completely new to ceramics or looking to develop existing skills, this is a welcoming space to experiment, learn and enjoy the process of making something with your own hands.<\/p>\n
The sessions cover the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel alongside at least two different handbuilding methods, giving you multiple approaches to constructing ceramic forms and bringing your ideas to life. A variety of decorative techniques are explored throughout, including texture, pattern, surface design and other creative finishing methods, making every piece as individual as the person who made it. Catherine’s work spans tableware, ceramic furniture and garden pieces, and that same attention to joy and character comes through in every session she teaches.<\/p>\n
