Fundamentals of handbuilding ceramics course in Porto at doBARRO with Marisa Grilo and Felipe Rocio, a four-session programme at 120 euros across four two-hour classes covering the essential hand-building techniques and the full ceramic process from raw clay to finished glazed piece. Designed for beginners and curious creatives with no prior experience. Available on Sundays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm or Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. After the third session there is a one-week pause for drying and first firing before the final glazing and finishing class.<\/p>\n
Class 1 introduces pinching, getting familiar with the clay and learning how to shape basic forms using your hands and fingers. Class 2 covers slab building, working with flat sheets of clay to create functional or decorative forms and exploring structure and surface details. Class 3 moves into coil building, joining coils to gradually build height, shape and rhythm. Class 4 returns after the one-week pause to explore glazing application and how the final kiln firing transforms your work into finished ceramic objects.
