Pole dance workshop in Lisbon for complete beginners who want to start this journey with no prior experience and no physical requirements needed beyond willpower and motivation. Led by Hugo Matos, pole dancer for over ten years, certified instructor and director of Pole Temple Studio, this introductory session covers the full foundation of pole dance: from physical conditioning and acrobatic flights to floorwork sequences, basic acrobatics and creative movement exercises that help you begin expressing yourself through contact with the pole. This is as much about self-knowledge and body awareness as it is about technique.
The session follows a clear progression through six areas of content. We begin with a warm-up and physical conditioning on the mat before moving to acrobatic flights and physical conditioning on the pole, then into basic acrobatics and floorwork sequences with dance. Throughout the session Hugo provides individual feedback and personalized support, adapting challenges to your experience level and creating a safe, welcoming and genuinely empowering space where every participant can move at their own pace. Pole dance builds muscle strength, joint mobility, body awareness and confidence in a way that is difficult to find in any other practice, and this workshop is the right place to find out if it is for you.

I am Hugo Matos, pole dancer for over ten years, certified instructor by elevatED in 2018 and director of Pole Temple Studio in Lisbon. I teach pole dance because I believe in what it does for the people who practice it: the strength, the confidence, the relationship with your body, mind and heart that develops through consistent and supported practice. This workshop is the starting point for all of that.
No prior experience or physical requirements needed. Open to everyone who is curious about pole dance.
