Traditional wood joinery workshop in São João das Lampas with Vicente Carpinteiro, a two-day immersive carpentry experience of 14 hours focused entirely on traditional encaixes, the hand-cut joints that form the foundation of strong and beautiful woodworking. Designed for anyone who wants to deepen their woodworking skills in a focused and genuinely inspiring environment, from beginners building confidence to experienced makers wanting to refine their technique. Over two full days in the workshop, participants learn and practise a variety of traditional wood joinery techniques, moving through measuring and marking, cutting and fitting joints by hand with precision and attention to detail. Vicente brings a deep personal commitment to craftsmanship to every session, the same care, precision and dedication he applies to every project he takes on professionally, and the two-day format gives participants enough time to genuinely understand not just the technique of each joint but the reasoning and patience behind it. Do I need previous carpentry experience?
No. This workshop is open to beginners as well as people with previous woodworking experience. The goal is to learn through practice, at your own pace.
What will we learn during the workshop?
Over the two days, you’ll learn the fundamentals of traditional wood joinery (“encaixes”), including measuring, marking, cutting, fitting, and assembling different types of joints using hand tools and woodworking techniques.
Are tools and materials included?
Yes. All tools, wood, and materials needed for the workshop are provided. You only need to bring comfortable clothing and a willingness to learn.
What will I bring home?
At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your own finished joinery practice pieces, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue practicing encaixes and woodworking techniques on your own projects.
