Sobre

Francisco Iurcovich is an Argentine ceramic artist, photographer, and filmmaker based in Porto, Portugal. His multidisciplinary practice brings together a strong sensitivity to material, image, and storytelling, with a particular interest in the relationship between craftsmanship, observation, and everyday life. Working under Fungi Cerâmica, Francisco creates handmade stoneware pieces, exploring the tactile qualities of clay and the expressive possibilities of wheel-thrown ceramics. Each piece is made by hand, reflecting the process, character, and subtle imperfections that make handmade pottery unique. Alongside his own ceramic practice, Francisco shares his knowledge through pottery wheel throwing workshops at Oficina Vidra in Porto, introducing participants to the fundamentals of working with clay on the wheel. His workshops offer a hands-on opportunity to experience the creative process directly — from preparing and centering the clay to shaping and refining a piece. Francisco's artistic background also extends into photography and cinematography, disciplines that have shaped his way of observing people, places, light, texture, and movement. This visual perspective informs his approach to ceramics, bringing an awareness of composition, detail, and atmosphere to his work. Originally from Argentina and now based in Porto, Francisco's practice reflects a dialogue between different places, cultures, and forms of creative expression. Through ceramics, photography, and film, he continues to explore ways of connecting with materials, landscapes, and people while creating opportunities for others to engage with the creative process themselves.
