More about your Teacher Tatiana Saavedra

I’m Tatiana Saavedra, a Portuguese visual artist working across photography, cinematography, and animation. My practice is rooted in a strong existential dimension and an ongoing search for the memory of who we are. I’ve lived and worked in the U.S., China, Spain, and Germany before returning to Lisbon, where I’m currently based. I hold a degree in Cinema, Video, and Multimedia Communication. My films and series have received several awards, including the Zon Award for Whiteboard (2011) and three awards from the European Cinema and Industry Alliance for my documentary series Under the Light. Most recently, I was responsible for the cinematography of Trending on Earth (RTP, 2025), which won Best Episode from a TV Series at the Golden Kuker Sofia. My films have been showcased at national and international festivals, including Stillness in the Intensity of the Colors, which premiered at DocLisboa. I also wrote and directed the television series Hello, How Do You Feel? for RTP.
In photography, my work has been featured in publications such as VOGUE, Libération, Público, Dodho, Fisheye, among others. I’ve exhibited internationally in group shows including ImageNation Paris, and held solo exhibitions such as The Landscape is Blind to the Silence we weave (Lisbon, 2024) and From Flesh to Sea (Almada, 2025). I currently work as a photographer at Canva, contributing to the creation of inclusive content. I’m also a member of the Hans Lucas studio in Paris, collaborating with leading professionals in contemporary visual expression. In Lisbon, I extend this exchange into teaching, leading courses and workshops at the Instituto Português de Fotografia (IPF) and the Instituto de Produção Cultural e Imagem (IPCI).
