Since 2003, Surfaventura has been sharing the waves, beaches and outdoor spirit of the Porto region with people from all over the world. Based right on Matosinhos Beach, just minutes from Porto, we are a surf school and outdoor activity company created for anyone who wants to experience the coast in an active, relaxed and memorable way.
Whether you are standing on a surfboard for the first time, looking to improve your technique, trying Stand-Up Paddle, or simply looking for a fun day by the ocean, our experienced instructors are here to guide you. We welcome beginners and intermediate surfers, as well as families, friends, schools, companies and groups.
Our home is Matosinhos Beach, a long sandy beach with conditions that make it an ideal place to learn and progress safely. Our facilities are right beside the beach, with changing facilities, a bathroom, multipurpose space and an outdoor deck where you can relax before or after your session. We also provide the equipment you need, from wetsuits to different types of surfboards, adapted to your level and experience.
But Surfaventura is about more than surfing. Alongside surf, bodyboard, Stand-Up Paddle and skate, we organise outdoor adventures, group activities, team-building experiences, holiday camps, celebrations and tailor-made programmes.
For us, adventure is about more than the activity itself. It is about getting outside, meeting people, discovering the coast, learning something new and enjoying the simple feeling of being in the water.

FAQ's
Not at all! The lesson is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already have some experience. Your instructor will adapt the session to your level and help you progress safely and confidently.
Bring your swimsuit, towel and flip-flops. Everything else is provided, including your wetsuit and surfboard. A fitted swimming-style swimsuit is recommended for men, as it is more comfortable underneath the wetsuit.
The exact class time will be confirmed after booking. This allows the Surfaventura team to choose the most suitable time according to the tides, weather conditions and overall safety of the session. If conditions are not favourable, the lesson may be adjusted or rescheduled.
Hopefully, your first wave and a big smile! 🌊 You’ll leave with a new experience in the ocean, the basics of surfing, a better understanding of waves and balance, and the confidence to keep developing your surfing skills. And, of course, plenty of memories from your time in Matosinhos.
The surf lesson lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. The price includes an experienced instructor, surfboard and wetsuit, access to the school’s changing facilities and WC, direct access to the beach, and the required insurance and licences.
