This immersive workshop gives you the unique opportunity to create a custom surfboard from concept to completion, working alongside professional surfboard shaper Vasco throughout the entire process. Rather than watching from the sidelines, you’ll play an active role in designing, shaping, and bringing your board to life using the same techniques and equipment trusted by professional shapers.

Over three hands-on sessions, you’ll gain a deep understanding of surfboard construction while crafting a board that’s perfectly suited to your surfing style, ability, and goals. From your first design sketch to the moment your finished board is ready to ride, you’ll be involved in almost every stage of its creation.

Workshop Overview
The workshop is divided into three practical stages, each offering a different part of the surfboard-building journey.

Stage 1 – Design Your Perfect Board
Your experience begins with a one-to-one consultation with Vasco to discuss your surfing experience, riding style, and what you want from your ideal surfboard.

Together, you’ll design your board using Shape3D, the same professional software used by surfboard manufacturers around the world. You’ll customise every detail—from dimensions and rocker to rails and outline—creating a board that’s completely unique to you.

You’ll actively:

Discuss your surfing goals
Design your board using professional Shape3D software
Choose the dimensions and performance characteristics
Create the digital model that will become your surfboard

Stage 2 – Shape Your Surfboard
Next, you’ll visit the foam blank factory to learn about the different types of surfboard blanks and select the one best suited to your design.

Once your blank has been precision-cut using CNC technology, the real hands-on experience begins.

Working side by side with Vasco, you’ll shape your own surfboard using the same tools and techniques employed by professional shapers. You’ll refine the rails, rocker, contours, and overall finish while learning the craftsmanship behind every performance surfboard.

Shape and refine your own surfboard by hand
Learn traditional shaping techniques from an experienced shaper

Stage 3 – From Workshop to Water
The final stage takes you behind the scenes of a professional laminating workshop.

You’ll meet the craftsmen responsible for laminating and finishing surfboards and follow every step as your board receives its fibreglass and resin layers before being sanded and polished.

Because lamination requires specialist skills, chemicals, and strict safety procedures, this part of the process is carried out by experienced professionals. However, you’ll observe each stage, ask questions, and gain a complete understanding of how a surfboard is transformed into its finished form.

Once complete, your custom surfboard is ready for collection—and, most importantly, ready to surf.
