Product Description
Wooden Spoons
In this Spoon Carving Workshop, participants will handcraft their own wooden spoons, as well as other wooden objects, under the guidance of Ana and Sílvio. This experience is an introduction to the art and techniques of green wood carving, creating functional objects that combine beauty and practicality while always valuing the natural material as the essential element of the creative process.
Cerdeira offers the perfect setting to work with wood and enjoy the surrounding nature over the course of two days.
We will begin with a walk around the village to identify the tree species best suited for carving and gather wood to work with in the studio. You will learn carving techniques, become familiar with the hand tools used in spoon carving, and explore the different characteristics and possibilities of the available wood species.
The workshop will also cover a variety of decorative techniques—including kolrosing, chip carving, painting, and baking—as well as finishing methods and the proper care of handmade wooden objects.
