For most of my professional life, I have been interested in one question: How do we see ourselves, and how do we see each other? As a filmmaker, photographer, and storyteller, I have spent years exploring human perspectives, identity, and the invisible stories that shape our lives. Again and again, I found that the most meaningful moments happen when people are given the space to express something about themselves that usually remains unseen. This workshop grew out of that realization. Rather than creating work about people, I wanted to create an experience with people — a space where creativity becomes a tool for reflection, play, and self-discovery. The crown is not about perfection or craftsmanship. It is a symbolic object, a way of giving shape to personal experiences, strengths, contradictions, dreams, and memories. The portrait session that follows is an invitation to be seen differently — not as a role, profession, or social identity, but as a person with a unique story. By brin ging together creative making, conversation, photography, and a shared experience, I hope to create moments that stay with people long after they leave the studio. My role is not to teach artistic skills. It is to create the conditions for curiosity, expression, and meaningful encounters — with yourself and with others.
Not at all. This workshop is designed for everyone, regardless of creative background. You'll be guided through the process of finding inspiration, exploring materials, and designing a crown that reflects your unique story and personality. The focus is on self-expression and creativity rather than artistic skill.
A wide variety of materials, textures, colors, and decorative elements are provided during the workshop. You’ll have the freedom to experiment and combine different forms to create a crown that feels meaningful and personal to you.
After completing your crown, you'll be photographed in a carefully curated studio setting by local fashion and portrait photographer Sylvia Borges. Following the workshop, you'll receive 5 professionally edited, high-quality digital portraits via email, showcasing both your crown and your personal presence.
The crown serves as a personal symbol of identity, strength, and self-expression. It represents who you are, the experiences that have shaped you, and the qualities and light you wish to bring into the world. The creative process is accompanied by moments of reflection and meaningful conversation.
The experience ends with a relaxed sundowner drink in the urban nest on the 14th floor of Ninho Studio. Surrounded by panoramic views of Lisbon’s rooftops, harbor, and waterfront, you'll have time to reflect on the creative journey, celebrate what emerged during the workshop, and connect with fellow participants before heading home.
