Glass mosaic workshop near Lagos for anyone who wants to spend three relaxed hours making something beautiful with their hands, away from the holiday crowds and closer to how the Algarve actually feels when you step off the tourist trail. Hosted by Liza Walker of The Glass House Algarve in a rural setting just outside Lagos, this is a genuinely unhurried craft session where you create your own glass on glass mosaic tile to take home as a personal memory of your time here. No experience needed, all materials provided, tea and coffee included and pets very much part of the atmosphere.
During summer months the session takes place outside under a carob tree. During winter it moves indoors. You are met at the meeting point and walk one minute to the workshop location, which is a rural and relaxed setting rather than a polished studio space, please wear casual clothes especially during the rainy season as the terrain is natural rather than paved. Liza is on hand throughout to offer advice, help with design decisions and make sure everyone leaves with something they are genuinely proud of. Your finished tile needs a minimum of three days to dry and grout. If you are leaving the area before that, Liza provides the finishing grout to take home and complete yourself.

I am Liza Walker, founder of The Glass House Algarve. Originally from the south of England, I live and work in a rural location near Lagos where I have a small studio for stained glass and an outside crafting space for summer mosaic sessions. I share the space with dogs, cats, chickens and a very sweet pet pig who are all part of the family and very much present during workshops. If you have any concerns about the animals please let me know in advance and I will do my best to accommodate you.
No children under 8 years old as the session involves working with glass. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please note this is a rural outdoor setting and natural conditions including wind, insects and uneven terrain are part of the experience.
The address provided is for the meeting and parking point only, not the actual workshop. Please follow the specific link sent to you, not Google Maps directions to the glass house. Stay on the tarmac road and do not drive up the dirt track, as it can damage your car. Once you arrive and park, you’ll be met on foot at 11am.
You will take home your finished mosaic piece. In most cases, mosaics need grouting, which takes a few days to dry: If you’re local: pieces can be ready for collection after at least 4 days If you’re visiting: you can take your mosaic home the same day with grout and instructions to finish it yourself
No experience is needed at all—this workshop is suitable for beginners. All materials are provided. Just come ready to be creative!
