Tecelagem (hand weaving) opens up a world of creative possibilities through this experimental workshop where participants explore the simplest manual weaving techniques to create their own unique piece.

In this hands-on tecelagem (hand weaving) experience, you’ll learn how looms function and work with basic manual weaving techniques while discovering natural raw materials from both animal and plant origins. This creative tecelagem workshop introduces participants to different textures, colors, and thicknesses of natural fibers, providing a comprehensive foundation in traditional textile arts.

The workshop covers loom operation, basic techniques, and simple manual weaving structures, followed by exploration of various natural materials including recycled threads from catalog samples, natural elements like flowers and herbs, and wool pieces from Quinta do Pisão sheep. Each participant completes a personal project and learns creative finishing techniques to complete their handwoven piece. No previous knowledge of weaving is required, making this accessible to beginners while offering depth for those interested in textile crafts.
