Kids ceramics workshop in Vila Nova de Milfontes at Oficina na Escola for children aged 6 to 10 who want to bring a story to life with their own hands in clay. The session begins with a story to listen to, and from there the characters take shape, literally, as each child models their own version of a character from the book using clay. A simple and genuinely magical creative process that combines the imagination a good story activates with the tactile satisfaction of working with real ceramic materials. All materials and one firing included.

Oficina na Escola, the former primary school of Ribeira da Azenha transformed into a crafts and ceramics centre between the Alentejo coast and the hills, is exactly the kind of space where this kind of experience feels right. A building that has always been about learning and imagination, now housing a ceramics studio where children can hear a story and immediately express what it made them feel and see through the oldest creative medium there is.

    Oficina Na Escola

The former primary school of Ribeira da Azenha, in Vila Nova de Milfontes, has been transformed into Oficina na Escola, a Centre for the Promotion and Appreciation of Local Products and Crafts. The space brings together a local handicrafts shop, a ceramics studio, and a meeting place dedicated to activities such as yoga, singing, and small events.

It is a new life for a building rich in memories — the school of many generations since 1957 and, later, the headquarters and storage space of a former theatre company. Today, Oficina na Escola establishes itself as a place of creation, sharing, and appreciation of local knowledge, where time slows down and hands-on experience regains its central role.

Between the Alentejo coast and the hills, Oficina na Escola opens its doors to the world of ceramics through experiences accessible to different levels of practice and curiosity. Whether it is a first contact with clay, a deeper technical exploration, or a more continuous learning path, there are three ways to enter the world of ceramics, in a welcoming, creative environment that is deeply connected to the surrounding region.
