Natural soap making workshop Level 1 in Rio de Mouro with Saboaria da Sofia, a three-hour hands-on session at 50 euros where you learn the art of traditional cold process soap making using plant-based ingredients with no synthetic additives or preservatives. Guided by Sofia, you explore the fundamentals of artisan soap making, from understanding oils, butters, fragrances and beneficial additives to essential safety practices and production techniques, leaving with the knowledge and confidence to continue making your own soaps at home. Suitable for ages 15 and over, no prior experience needed.
The session covers the basics of cold process soap making, the properties of different vegetable oils and butters, how to use natural fragrances and beneficial additives, and essential safety rules and best practices throughout. You also learn practical soap making techniques along with curing, storage and packaging tips so the soaps you take home cure properly and last. All materials, ingredients and protective equipment are provided, with a coffee break included along the way. Please bring an apron and a long-sleeved shirt or lab coat to protect your clothing.
