Terrarium workshop in Almada at Parque da Paz, a beautiful urban park filled with lakes, trees and winding paths that make it the most fitting possible setting for building a miniature ecosystem of your own. Led by Ana Rita Pina, biologist, botanist and founder of A Casinha Botânica, this hands-on session teaches you to design and assemble a self-sustaining terrarium from scratch, layer by layer, plant by plant, decorative touch by decorative touch. You leave with a living glass garden that requires minimal care and grows more beautiful over time.

The process is both educational and genuinely calming. Ana Rita guides you through the fundamentals of ecosystem creation: how the drainage foundation works, how to layer the soil mix correctly for moisture balance, how to select and arrange plants suited to enclosed environments and how to finish the terrarium with decorative elements that reflect your own style. The natural surroundings of Parque da Paz add a quality of stillness and inspiration to the session that no indoor studio can replicate. We meet at the South Entrance by the parking area and walk together to a quiet green spot that sets the tone for everything that follows.

I am Ana Rita Pina, biologist specialised in botany and founder of A Casinha Botânica, a project born in 2019 with the mission of awakening in people a deeper care and respect for nature. I believe that terrariums, small fragments of nature we bring indoors, have the power to reconnect us with the natural world. When we care for them we also cultivate a more sensitive awareness of why protecting the environment matters. This workshop is an expression of that belief.

Please note this workshop takes place outdoors at Parque da Paz and depends on weather conditions. In case of rain or strong wind the session may be postponed or moved to another date. Suitable for all experience levels. No prior knowledge of plants or gardening needed.

Workshop muito divertido e instrutivo. Para além do terrário que levamos para casa, temos agora as bases para construir outros terrários.

More about your Teacher Casinha Botânica
