Captain Pedro brings tournament-level expertise to every trip, with wins across the All Millionaire Pacific Circuit, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament and the South Africa World Championship, and the Katjoa was upgraded this winter 2026 with new omni sonar and electric Minn Kota, technology that data from major tournaments suggests can increase catch rates significantly compared to boats without omnidirectional sonar. From Marina de Faro to wherever the fish are between 5 and 15 miles offshore, every decision on the water is made by a captain who has dedicated his life to this.

The Algarve offshore is one of the most productive fishing grounds in Europe and this trip puts you right in the middle of it, trolling for the species that make sport fishing worth everything. It can be the most action-filled day of White Marlin or Tuna fishing or the longest, roughest, and most uncomfortable crossing I've ever made, either way, it's my job. And I'm happy to do it. Of course, it's not all record-breaking days and tournament wins. There are certainly frustrating days but then I realize that I am doing something that I love. When we raise a double or a triple, I forget about looking up and get excited about fishing all over again." Captain Pedro holds numerous tournament awards from All Millionaire Pacific Circuit Tournaments, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, and the South Africa WorldChampionship – to name a few. This winter 2026, we made 2 major upgrades, in our boat; now we have a new omni sonar, and a new electric iron Min Kota; both to help us to improve fishing. Numbers from the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament indicate that boats using omni sonar can experience catch rates 60% to 84% higher than those without this powerful technology. No one would argue with the premise that omnidirectional sonar is a great fish-catching tool.
