Ceramics workshop in Vila Nova de Milfontes at Oficina na Escola, a three-hour introductory experience in a space that carries its own particular history. The former primary school of Ribeira da Azenha, a building rich in the memories of generations since 1957, has been transformed into a centre for crafts, ceramics and community, situated between the Alentejo coast and the hills. In this unhurried and hands-on session, participants explore a modelling technique, become familiar with materials and tools and create their own unique piece, guided through a process of discovery and expression from shaping the clay to finishing and decoration. All materials and one firing are included. No prior experience needed.
This is more than a technique class. It is a moment of pause, attention and genuine connection with the material, in a space that was designed to slow time down and return the hands-on experience to its central role. Oficina na Escola brings together a local handicrafts shop, a ceramics studio and a meeting place in a building that has always been about learning, and the ceramics workshop reflects that spirit entirely.
