AUAKE is an independent pottery studio based in Portugal, created by passionate artisans dedicated to contemporary ceramics and mindful craftsmanship. Rooted in a minimalist aesthetic, the founders have built the brand around the belief that everyday objects should combine beauty, functionality, and authenticity. Every AUAKE piece is designed and handcrafted in Portugal using traditional pottery techniques, resulting in unique ceramics that celebrate organic forms, subtle imperfections, and timeless design. The owners embrace a made-to-order production model that reflects their commitment to sustainability, reducing waste while ensuring each creation receives individual attention and care. Beyond creating collections for homes around the world, AUAKE collaborates with restaurants, interior designers, hospitality projects, and private clients on bespoke ceramic pieces. Their work is guided by a dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and responsible production, with every object carrying the character and story of the studio behind it. Today, AUAKE continues to grow as a creative pottery studio where traditional know-how meets modern design, offering handcrafted ceramics that bring simplicity, warmth, and lasting value to everyday living.
No. This workshop is designed for beginners and is suitable for both adults and teenagers aged 15 and over. Whether it is your first time working with clay or you have some experience, we will guide you through the entire process.
All clay, tools, and materials are provided. During the session, you will learn fundamental handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab building, and create up to three small pieces. Your work will also be glazed and kiln-fired by us.
Your pieces will be ready within a maximum of 8 weeks. We recommend taking photos of your creations after the workshop and contacting us approximately 4 weeks later to arrange a collection appointment or discuss delivery options.
No. Shipping and delivery costs are not included in the workshop fee. If you would like your finished pieces shipped to you, we can arrange worldwide delivery for an additional charge.
We ask participants to contact us within the collection timeframe. Unfortunately, we cannot store finished pieces indefinitely. If we do not hear from you, uncollected items will be placed in a box outside our studio for local village residents to take.
More than just pottery, you'll take home a memorable creative experience and a deeper connection with the craft of ceramics. During the workshop, you'll learn fundamental handbuilding techniques, explore your creativity through clay, and create up to three unique pieces with your own hands. After the workshop, your creations will be professionally glazed and kiln-fired by us, making them durable and ready for everyday use or display. Once completed, you'll be able to collect your finished ceramics or have them shipped to you (shipping costs apply). You'll also leave with new skills, creative confidence, and the satisfaction of having transformed a simple lump of clay into something truly personal and one of a kind.
