Product Description
Natural pigments are an integral part of our human history and cultural heritage. Our ancestors created with the pigments the earth provided—ancestral practices that we can still learn from and apply today in a conscious, contemporary way.
In this workshop, you will discover the rich color potential of the Serra da Lousã by collecting local pigments and extracting colors from rocks and soil. Guided by Marta, you will learn every step of the process: grinding raw materials into a fine powder; using the levigation technique to separate clay from the other components of the earth; and producing a natural binder that brings the pigment together to create watercolor paint.
These three and a half days of learning are also an invitation to reconnect with the natural surroundings of Cerdeira.
By the end of the workshop, you will take home your own palette of mineral watercolors made from pigments gathered in the Serra da Lousã, along with the knowledge and skills to continue developing a more natural and sustainable artistic practice.
