About
Sérgio Marques is a Portuguese visual artist, designer, and certified trainer based in Lisbon. He studied Painting at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, completing Level III Painting studies between 2019 and 2022, while also holding a Master’s degree in Territory Management and Urbanism from the University of Lisbon.
His artistic work combines traditional painting, drawing, cartography, and contemporary visual language, often exploring themes connected to territory, memory, identity, and public space.
Sérgio has participated in several exhibitions and artistic projects in Portugal and internationally, including the CHEAP Street Poster Art Festival, the XI Bienal de Pintura de Pequeno Formato da Moita, exhibitions at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, and urban art projects in Cascais and Lisbon. His work has also received distinctions such as second prize and honorable mentions at “Um Galo na Torre” in Ajuda, Lisbon.
Alongside his artistic practice, Sérgio works professionally in design and visual communication, having developed projects for cultural institutions, municipalities, hotels, and public organizations. He is also the creator of the independent brand Surf & Sardinhas and founder of AjudaLab, a creative space dedicated to workshops, art, and cultural experimentation in Lisbon.
