Active art talk in Lisbon for anyone who has ever walked into a museum and thought something was beautiful without knowing what to actually look at. Led by Jeanne Couaillier, an art educator with 22 years of teaching experience across France, India, China, Thailand and Portugal, this interactive session introduces the Seven Elements of Art through short activities, visual puzzles, historical anecdotes and hands-on exercises that make art history feel genuinely alive rather than academic. No prior knowledge needed and no jargon unless you want it.

The session moves through the seven elements, line, shape, form, colour, value, texture and space, using concrete and engaging activities at every stage. You will explore how line can express movement and emotion, how colour influences mood and meaning, how light and shadow create drama and how composition guides the eye through a painting without you even noticing. Along the way Jeanne weaves in surprising historical secrets, propaganda analysis and intimate artist stories that give each element a human and often unexpected dimension. This is not a passive talk. You will be invited to look closely, solve visual challenges, try short creative exercises and step inside artworks in a way that changes how you see them.

I am Jeanne Couaillier, an art educator who has spent 22 years teaching art in France, India, China, Thailand and now Portugal. I have spent my career developing creative experiences that make art history accessible, engaging and genuinely fun, including interactive art history talks, hands-on creative workshops and Active Art Talks like this one, where participants learn by observing, doing and creating together. Art becomes much more interesting when you stop being a passive viewer. That is the whole point of this session.
