Fermentation workshop in Lisbon with Sara Di Rocco, a hands-on session covering four of the most rewarding and genuinely useful fermentation projects you can learn: kombucha, kimchi, sourdough and naturally fermented pickles, all in a relaxed and welcoming home setting. Everyone leaves with their own sourdough starter, homemade pickles, homemade kimchi and a SCOBY for kombucha brewing if they want one, plus a digital recipe card covering everything from the session so you can keep fermenting confidently at home. Tea, coffee and other beverages are provided throughout. The session takes place at Sara’s home, where her cat Covinha also lives, so please keep this in mind if you have allergies.

The workshop explores the techniques, ingredients and principles behind each fermentation method, giving you a genuine understanding of what is happening in each process rather than just a recipe to follow. Fermented foods are rich in beneficial bacteria that support gut health, digestion, immunity and overall wellbeing, and learning to make them yourself is one of the most practical and lasting skills you can take out of a single workshop session. Sara is also available for private workshops and team-building experiences for groups, companies and special occasions.

I am Sara Di Rocco and alongside my sourdough bread, pasta, pizza, bone broth, tea blending and massage workshops, fermentation is one of the subjects I love teaching most. Understanding what is happening in a ferment changes the way you cook and eat, and this session is designed to give you that understanding as much as the recipes themselves. My workshops take place at my home in Lisbon under the supervision of my cat Covinha. Please let me know in advance if you have any allergies or concerns.

Sessions available for individuals and small groups. Private workshops and team-building experiences also available for groups, companies and special occasions.
