Cer'•Arte does not merely occupy a physical space; it inhabits a legacy. Located in the heart of the former Cerâmica de Valadares, our brand breathes the history of generations who shaped clay and elevated Portugal's name through design and industry. Here, the walls hold echoes of production and mastery, serving as the foundation for what we are today: memory, creation, and culture.
We were born in December 2024, with our focus on the purity of ceramics. We began by exploring the infinite possibilities of clay but quickly realized that the creative spirit surrounding us is not limited to a single material. Driven by the energy of this historic place, Cer'•Arte evolved rapidly. What started with ceramics organically expanded to the most diverse manual arts. Today, we embrace textiles, wood, painting, and all forms of expression where the human hand is the main tool.
We believe that art should not be experienced in isolation. Therefore, Cer'•Arte is a space dedicated to creativity and connection. We want to be the meeting point between the artisan and the enthusiast, between ancestral technique and contemporary vision.
No. The workshop is suitable for beginners, and the Cer'Arte team will guide you through the basic hand-building techniques.
You can choose what to create, from a functional ceramic object to an abstract sculpture. There are no moulds or rigid rules, allowing you to explore your own ideas and creative style.
You'll be introduced to three fundamental hand-building techniques: pinch pot, coil building and slab construction. You'll also learn how to handle clay and add texture to your piece.
Your ceramic piece will be dried, fired and finished after the workshop. It will be ready for collection approximately two weeks later.
You'll leave with a ceramic piece shaped by your own hands and, after the drying, firing and finishing process, ready to collect approximately two weeks after the workshop.
