Van Gogh did not paint what he saw. He painted what he felt. At our Van Gogh painting workshop in Lisbon, we take that same approach and apply it to your own photographic reference, teaching you the expressive brushstroke technique, saturated colour palette and emotional intensity that made his style one of the most recognisable in art history. You

We start with an introduction to post-impressionist principles and what specifically defines Van Gogh’s visual language: the movement in the brushstrokes, the way colour is applied with intention and feeling, the tension between chaos and composition. From there you work with your own photographic reference, guided by our tutor through the process of translating an image into an expressive, emotionally charged painting using his techniques as your framework. The result is a finished artwork that could only have been made by you.

At Meet Art Studio we create a space where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can slow down, engage with art and discover what they are capable of making. Our studio in Lisbon is designed around that idea: accessible, unhurried and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

Our tutor will meet you at the front door of the building at Lote A, ten minutes before the session begins. If you arrive after that, ring the doorbell at number 249.
