Feel the rhythm. Move with purpose. Make some noise.
Discover the powerful energy of Japanese taiko drumming at Taiko School of Porto, a welcoming space where rhythm, culture, and community come together.
Located at Centro Cultural STOP in Porto, the school invites people of all experience levels to explore the dynamic art of taiko through classes, workshops, and community events. More than learning to play the drums, it’s an opportunity to develop coordination, focus, creativity, and teamwork while connecting with others through the shared language of rhythm.
Rooted in Japanese performing arts and guided by principles of mindfulness, technique, physical and mental well-being, and respect, Taiko School of Porto encourages each student to discover their own voice while contributing to something bigger than themselves.
Whether you’re completely new to music or an experienced performer, you’re invited to pick up the drumsticks, feel the beat, and become part of a growing community united by the energy of taiko.
At Taiko School of Porto, every beat is an opportunity to learn, connect, and create something together.
Not at all! The workshop is designed for complete beginners. The focus is on participation, listening, communication, and teamwork rather than musical perfection.
The standard workshop accommodates 5–20 participants. If your team is smaller or larger, contact the Hands On team for a customized proposal.
You’ll watch a live demonstration, learn basic taiko techniques, take part in guided rhythm and ensemble exercises, and work together towards a final group performance. A short debrief connects the experience to communication and collaboration at work.
The workshop can be held at the Taiko School of Porto. If an alternative venue is required, it can be arranged at an additional cost.
Your team will share the experience of creating a collective performance while practising listening, communication, leadership, focus, and collaboration. The main takeaway is the shared experience and the opportunity to reflect on how these skills translate into everyday teamwork.
