5 Reasons You Should Join a Tufting Workshop
So you’ve been doom-scrolling through Instagram and stumbled upon someone joyfully stabbing yarn into a canvas with the wild-eyed determination of someone who’s just discovered their new obsession. Welcome to the magical, slightly fuzzy world of tufting, aka the craft you never knew you needed in your life.
Here at Hands On, we proudly offer Portugal most satisfying, oddly therapeutic tufting workshops, where you can turn your nervous energy (and questionable taste in patterns) into your very own custom rug. That’s right. A rug. Made by you. With yarn. And love. And possibly some light swearing.
If you’re still on the tufting fence, allow us to gently push you over it with these (mostly rational) reasons to join a tufting class immediately:
1. It’s basically punching, but for art
Let’s be honest: tufting is incredibly cathartic. You get to wield a tufting gun (which sounds like a medieval weapon but is actually very fun and safe) and stab yarn into fabric to create colorful, squishy masterpieces. It’s like punching a pillow, but with creative purpose.
Had a long week? Tuft it out.
2. No artistic talent? No problem!
You don’t need to be Picasso or Pinterest-perfect to enjoy tufting. Our tufting workshops are designed for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned crafter or someone who once got tangled in a roll of tape.
Our lovely instructors at Hands On will guide you through everything: how to load your tufting gun (cue dramatic music), how to transfer your design onto the canvas, and how to make sure you don’t accidentally create a psychedelic blob unless that’s your vibe.
3. You get a rug. An actual, real rug.
This is not one of those workshops where you walk away with a tiny keychain and a vague sense of “at least I tried.” No, no. You walk away with a whole rug. A handmade, tufted, proudly lopsided (probably) rug.
Your friends will ask, “Where did you buy that adorable rug?” and you’ll flip your hair and reply, “Oh, this old thing? I made it at a tufting class.
4. It’s the ultimate niche date or friend outing
Tired of the same-old drinks and dinner dates? Want to impress your friend group with your cool, offbeat plans? These workshops is a bonding experience like no other. Nothing brings people together quite like the shared panic of realizing you’ve tufted slightly outside the lines and now your cactus looks like a lopsided llama.
Laugh, create and walk away with matching rugs and inside jokes.
5. Portugal is the tufting capital of chill vibes
Okay, maybe we made that title up, but Portugal is the perfect place to try new things and embrace your inner artisan. At Hands On, we’ve got cozy, welcoming spaces where the yarn flows as freely as the inspiration. You’ll meet fellow makers, enjoy some snacks and possibly discover your next favorite hobby.

In summary: Get tufted
Tufting is weirdly wonderful. It’s creative, it’s chaotic (in a good way) and it results in actual home décor you can casually point at every time someone enters your apartment.
So grab a spot in our workshop, load up on yarn and get ready to impress yourself.
