Marlin and bluefin fishing trip from Marina de Faro aboard the Katjoa with Captain Pedro Casanova, targeting blue marlin, white marlin and bluefin tuna between 10 and 25 miles offshore along the Algarve coastline. This is big game fishing at its most serious, using professional offshore trolling techniques and equipment in waters that offer a genuine shot at some of the most powerful and celebrated sport fish in the Atlantic. Catch and release is strictly mandatory. All fishing licences and equipment included and the trip is priced per experience for up to five people, suitable for experienced anglers and adventurous beginners alike.

Portugal is the only country in Europe where you can realistically target granders, the record-breaking marlins that define a lifetime of sport fishing, and the Algarve coastline between 10 and 25 miles offshore is where that possibility lives. Captain Pedro holds tournament wins across the All Millionaire Pacific Circuit, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament and the South Africa World Championship, and the Katjoa was upgraded this winter 2026 with new omni sonar and electric Minn Kota, technology that data from major tournaments suggests can increase catch rates by 60 to 84 percent compared to boats without omnidirectional sonar. When you are targeting marlin and bluefin, the captain and the technology aboard make all the difference.

    Hey, I'm Captain Pedro Casanova
    Faro, Portugal
    Background
"It is not the great days of fishing or tournament wins that make me love it so much, it's the small details of each day that remind me of how lucky I am. It can be the most action-filled day of White Marlin or Tuna fishing or the longest, roughest, and most uncomfortable crossing I've ever made, either way, it's my job. And I'm happy to do it. Of course, it's not all record-breaking days and tournament wins. There are certainly frustrating days but then I realize that I am doing something that I love. When we raise a double or a triple, I forget about looking up and get excited about fishing all over again." Captain Pedro holds numerous tournament awards from All Millionaire Pacific Circuit Tournaments, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, and the South Africa WorldChampionship – to name a few. This winter 2026, we made 2 major upgrades, in our boat; now we have a new omni sonar, and a new electric iron Min Kota; both to help us to improve fishing. Numbers from the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament indicate that boats using omni sonar can experience catch rates 60% to 84% higher than those without this powerful technology. No one would argue with the premise that omnidirectional sonar is a great fish-catching tool.
