VIVALab Porto is a space for creativity, experimentation and innovation, where ideas take shape through making.
Inspired by Maker culture and the principles of Fab Labs, VIVALab brings together technology, digital fabrication, sustainability and creativity to offer hands-on, collaborative experiences that are anything but ordinary.
In our workshops and team-building activities, we challenge participants to experiment, create, build and solve problems together. From plastic recycling to digital fabrication, from electronics to biomaterials, each activity is designed to stimulate curiosity, collaboration and the ability to transform ideas into tangible solutions.
More than simply learning a technique, we aim to create moments of discovery and sharing, where everyone can participate, regardless of their previous experience.
At VIVALab, we believe that learning by doing, experimenting without fear of making mistakes, and creating together are some of the best ways to bring people closer, develop new skills and generate new ideas.
Yes. You will make your own reusable beeswax-coated fabric wraps during the workshop and take your finished creations home to use in your everyday life.
Yes. During the workshop, you will explore how to create different sizes and shapes. A laser cutting machine allows the fabric to be customised according to your needs.
The warmth of your hands softens the beeswax, allowing the fabric to mould around food or containers. Once it cools, the wrap holds its shape.
Beeswax wraps are reusable alternatives to disposable plastic packaging. They can be used to wrap and cover foods such as fruit, vegetables, bread and snacks.
No. No previous experience with beeswax wraps, textiles or laser cutting is required. The workshop is designed as a hands-on introduction, with guidance throughout the process.
