Marisa Grilo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portugal whose practice moves between ceramics, printmaking, and expressive illustration. Her work is deeply influenced by nature, tactile processes, and experimentation with materials. She is co-founder of doBARRO, a ceramics studio and shop in Porto dedicated to creative exploration and hands-on making. Marisa is also a member of the collective Squid Ink Works and has over five years of experience working directly with children and diverse audiences through artistic activities and workshops. Through her practice and teaching, she seeks to create accessible and playful spaces where people can connect with materials, creativity, and slow craft.
Not at all! This workshop is open to all experience levels, including complete beginners. You’ll start with a simple sketch and a gentle introduction to colour and contrast before developing your own painting at your own pace.
All materials needed for the acrylic painting session are included in the price, so you can focus on experimenting with colours, brushstrokes and composition without having to bring your own supplies.
The workshop focuses on developing an individual acrylic painting. If you’d like to take your finished artwork home on the day, we recommend waiting some days for you to dry it. If you are careful and sure you will be able to take it, we will let you.
The workshop lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place at DoBarro, Rua da Alegria, 246, Porto.
Just bring your curiosity and creativity! All painting materials are included, and you don’t need to bring your own brushes or paints. Wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little paint on.
