We’re passionate about sharing the Atlantic Ocean and the incredible surf beaches of Northern Portugal with people from all over the world. Whether you’re standing on a surfboard for the very first time or looking to take your surfing to the next level, our experienced instructors are here to make every session fun, safe and memorable.
But Porto Surf School is about more than just surfing. It’s about meeting new people, exploring Portugal, enjoying the ocean and discovering Porto from a different perspective. Our “Surf and the City” experience brings together surf lessons, comfortable accommodation at our Surf Lodge, local adventures and a welcoming community of surfers and travellers.

FAQ's
No. The class is suitable for beginners and participants with different experience levels. Your instructor will introduce you to the basics of stand-up paddleboarding and provide guidance throughout the class.
Yes. The class takes place outdoors and is dependent on weather, water and safety conditions. The instructor monitors the conditions to ensure the class can take place safely and comfortably. If conditions are not suitable, the class may be rescheduled.
As the class is weather dependent, the exact class time and pick-up details will be confirmed after your booking. This allows the team to select the most suitable time according to the forecast and water conditions.
Please bring swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes, water and sunscreen. A wetsuit, lycra, SUP board and paddle are provided.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of stand-up paddleboarding, improve your balance and paddling technique, and enjoy a unique experience on the Douro surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. Most importantly, you’ll leave with new skills and memories of your time on the river.
