Introductory course in freediving and spearfishing

Spearfishing Training Program
The Spearfishing Training Program is structured across three progressive levels, allowing participants to develop their knowledge, technical skills, and experience in a safe and controlled manner.

Each level combines theoretical and practical knowledge covering equipment, hunting techniques, marine species and habitats, equalization, equipment adaptation, nutrition, breathing, and relaxation techniques.

Spearfishing — Level 1 | Beginner
Level 1 is designed for those who are starting their journey in spearfishing. Participants will learn the fundamental concepts, techniques, and skills required for safe and responsible practice of the discipline, up to depths of 20 metres.

Course Content
Equipment I — Introduction to the essential equipment used in spearfishing, including correct use, configuration, and maintenance.
Hunting Techniques I — Introduction to fundamental spearfishing techniques and approaches.
Species & Habitats I — Identification of common marine species, their habitats, behaviour, and characteristics.
Equalization Techniques I — Introduction to fundamental equalization techniques and their application during descent.
Equipment Adaptation I — Understanding how to adjust and configure equipment according to the diver’s individual needs and conditions.
Nutrition I — Basic principles of nutrition and hydration for spearfishing.
Breathing & Relaxation Techniques I — Introduction to breathing, relaxation, and body-control techniques essential for spearfishing.
Spearfishing — Level 2 | Intermediate
Level 2 is designed for experienced beginners who have completed the fundamentals and want to further develop their technical abilities and knowledge, progressing to depths of 30 metres.

The course builds on the skills acquired in Level 1, with greater emphasis on efficiency, technique, preparation, and adapting to different diving and hunting conditions.

Hunting Techniques II — Development of more advanced hunting techniques and strategies.
Species & Habitats II — Deeper knowledge of species behaviour, habitats, and environmental conditions.
Equalization Techniques II — Development and refinement of equalization techniques for greater depths.
Equipment Adaptation II — Advanced equipment adjustment and adaptation according to technique, depth, and individual requirements.
Nutrition II — Nutrition and hydration strategies adapted to the demands of deeper and longer sessions.
Breathing & Relaxation Techniques II — Advanced breathing, relaxation, and mental preparation techniques.
Spearfishing — Level 3 | Advanced
Level 3 is aimed at experienced spearfishers looking to develop advanced skills and knowledge for spearfishing at depths beyond 30 metres.

The programme focuses on advanced preparation, diving and hunting techniques, equalization, equipment configuration, species behaviour, and adapting to more demanding underwater environments.

Breathing & Relaxation Techniques III — Advanced breathing, relaxation, mental preparation, and body-control techniques.
Specialised Module — Bluewater Spearfishing
Due to the wide variety of techniques and hunting styles used in spearfishing, we have developed a specialised Bluewater Spearfishing module.

Bluewater spearfishing is fundamentally different from conventional reef or bottom hunting. The absence of a fixed bottom reference, the open-water environment, the behaviour of pelagic species, and the specific hunting strategies required make this a highly specialised discipline.

This module focuses on the specific knowledge and techniques required to approach bluewater spearfishing effectively and responsibly.

Course Content
Bluewater Spearfishing Equipment — Equipment selection, configuration, and optimisation for open-water hunting.
Bluewater Hunting Techniques — Specific techniques and strategies for locating, approaching, and hunting pelagic species.
Species & Habitats in Bluewater — Understanding pelagic species, their behaviour, movement patterns, and preferred environments.
Equipment Adaptation for Bluewater Hunting — Adapting equipment to different techniques, depths, conditions, and target species.
Nutrition — Nutritional and hydration principles for the specific demands of bluewater spearfishing.
Progressive Development
The three-level structure provides a progressive learning pathway, taking participants from the fundamentals of spearfishing through to advanced techniques and specialised bluewater hunting.

The goal is to develop strong technical foundations, greater confidence and efficiency in the water, and a deeper understanding of the marine environment while promoting a safe, responsible, and sustainable approach to spearfishing.
