Our story began in 2012, after years of travelling around the world and searching for the kind of experiences we loved most: hiking through wild landscapes, discovering hidden places, meeting local people, tasting authentic food, and sharing unforgettable adventures.
We brought that passion back to Porto and created Oporto Adventure Tours with one simple goal: to help travellers experience Northern Portugal the way we love to travel ourselves — actively, authentically, and with a sense of adventure.
From the mountains and waterfalls of Peneda-Gerês National Park to the vineyards of the Douro Valley, our tours combine nature, adventure, tradition, and local culture. Whether you're looking for a peaceful day in nature, an adrenaline-filled canyoning or kayaking experience, or a multi-day journey through Northern Portugal, we want every trip to feel personal and memorable.

FAQ's
No. The kayaking experience on Caniçada Lake is described as beginner-friendly, making it suitable for people who are new to kayaking.
Yes. There is an opportunity to swim in the lake and later at the waterfall, depending on conditions. You can also try stand-up paddleboarding during the lake stop.
Yes. The experience includes the kayak, dry bag, lockers and life vest.
The minimum age is 5 years old, with an age restriction of 5–75 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring comfortable weather-appropriate clothing, non-slip walking shoes, a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, a snack and water. A reusable water bottle is recommended.
You’ll take home more than a day of kayaking. You’ll have paddled through the mountains, swum in natural waters, tasted local food and wine, met local people and experienced Gerês away from the usual tourist routes. Most importantly, you’ll take home the feeling of having actively experienced the landscape rather than simply looked at it.
The kayaking experience is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
We accept children from 5 to 15 years old and adults from 16 to 75 years old.

Take into consideration that the Land Rover is a vintage car, built for the mountains but not for comfort- some parts of the ride can be uncomfortable. Some of the seats of the 4x4 vehicle are not forward-facing, and taller travellers may feel cramped. Being a vintage car the seatbelts are different from modern cars, some seats just have the waist belt. If you suffer from car sickness you should take medication before the tour or bring it with you on the tour.
