Our story began in 2012, after years of travelling around the world and searching for the kind of experiences we loved most: hiking through wild landscapes, discovering hidden places, meeting local people, tasting authentic food, and sharing unforgettable adventures.
We brought that passion back to Porto and created Oporto Adventure Tours with one simple goal: to help travellers experience Northern Portugal the way we love to travel ourselves — actively, authentically, and with a sense of adventure.
From the mountains and waterfalls of Peneda-Gerês National Park to the vineyards of the Douro Valley, our tours combine nature, adventure, tradition, and local culture. Whether you're looking for a peaceful day in nature, an adrenaline-filled canyoning or kayaking experience, or a multi-day journey through Northern Portugal, we want every trip to feel personal and memorable.
We are passionate about responsible tourism and supporting the communities we visit. That's why we work with local restaurants and associations, promote traditional food and cultural heritage, and take an active role in environmental initiatives such as reforestation.

The experience includes a local nature guide, transportation in a classic Land Rover, traditional lunch, insurance, and participation in the reforestation project. It also includes visits to a typical village, a waterfall and/or lagoon, with time to swim when conditions permit.
The experience lasts approximately 10 hours, including transportation between Porto and Peneda-Gerês National Park.
Yes. Depending on weather and local conditions, there is an opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of a waterfall or lagoon. Bring a swimsuit and towel.
Bring comfortable weather-appropriate clothing, non-slip walking shoes, warm clothes, a change of clothes, a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water, and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended.
You’ll take home more than memories. You’ll leave with a deeper connection to Peneda-Gerês, its communities and its natural environment, along with the satisfaction of having actively contributed to our reforestation project. You’ll also take home the stories, flavours and experiences shared throughout the day — from meeting local people and discovering village traditions to exploring waterfalls, lagoons and mountain landscapes. Most importantly, you’ll leave your own mark on Gerês and know that you helped give something back to the place you visited.
Minimum participants is 2, but we accept the bookings for single travellers if we already have more bookings on the requested date. We welcome all children from 3 to 15 years old and the maximum age is 75.

Take into consideration that the Land Rover is a vintage car, built for the mountains but not for comfort- some parts of the ride can be uncomfortable. Some of the seats of the 4x4 vehicle are not forward-facing, and taller travellers may feel cramped. Being a vintage car the seatbelts are different from modern cars, some seats just have the waist belt. If you suffer from car sickness you should take medication before the tour or bring it with you on the tour.
