I am a visual artist and art educator based in Portugal, with a background in Fine Arts and extensive experience teaching visual arts to children, young people and adults. I am a certified visual arts teacher and the founder of my own atelier, where I design and lead in-person courses, workshops and artistic training programmes. My practice spans painting, drawing and mixed media, with a particular focus on watercolor as a space for experimentation, observation and expressive freedom. I regularly collaborate with museums and cultural institutions, developing educational projects that connect artistic practice, heritage and contemporary approaches to learning. Through my courses and ateliers, I aim to create welcoming, inspiring spaces where participants can explore materials with confidence, develop their skills and nurture a personal artistic language. My teaching approach values process, curiosity and creative freedom over rigid outcomes.
All watercolor materials including quality paper, professional paints, brushes, and tools are provided. Just bring yourself, openness to watercolor's fluid unpredictability, and comfort choosing either reference image guidance or free intuitive painting based on your personal preference and comfort level.
The 2.5-hour session takes place in a relaxed, supportive studio environment designed to inspire creative exploration where the professional artist and art educator provides step-by-step guidance while you work on your personal watercolor piece.
The instructor teaches fundamental watercolor techniques—water-to-pigment ratios, wet-on-wet soft blending, wet-on-dry crisp edges, color mixing, and brush handling—adapted to your approach whether working from reference images or painting freely. The workshop values creative freedom and enjoyment over perfectionism, with supportive guidance ensuring you complete a finished artwork while discovering watercolor's unique transparent, luminous qualities and learning to both control and embrace the spontaneous movement of water carrying pigment across paper in beautiful, sometimes unexpected ways.
