Our Story
Porto Alchemy was born from the friendship and shared passion of three friends who dreamed of creating a place where people could experience the true soul of Porto.
Bringing together an artist’s eye, a deep appreciation for Portuguese culture, and a love for hospitality, we created Porto Alchemy as more than just a place to stay or visit. We wanted to create a space where the beauty of traditional Portuguese azulejos, the warmth of Port wine, and the spirit of local life come together in an authentic and welcoming experience.
Today, the three of us are still at the heart of Porto Alchemy, running the place together and welcoming guests as friends. For us, it’s about sharing the Porto we love—not simply as a destination, but as a feeling, a story, and a collection of moments to remember.
We believe the best travel experiences happen when you slow down, connect with a place, and feel at home. That’s what Porto Alchemy is all about: meaningful encounters, local character, and a little bit of magic in every stay.

Yes. Children are welcome to participate, but guests under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. No previous painting experience is required, making the workshop suitable for beginners and families.
You’ll take home the Portuguese ceramic tile you painted yourself. Your finished artwork comes with a display stand and is carefully packaged in stamped Porto Alchemy kraft paper and a branded paper bag, ready to take home as a unique handmade souvenir from Porto.
Not at all. The workshop is designed for complete beginners. Your instructor will demonstrate the techniques and provide step-by-step guidance throughout the painting session.
Yes. A complimentary tasting of traditional Port wine is included during the workshop. A non-alcoholic drink option is also available. Guests who wish to consume alcohol must be of legal drinking age in Portugal.
Please bring your booking confirmation, comfortable clothing suitable for a creative activity, and a phone or camera if you’d like to take photos. Most importantly, bring your creativity and enthusiasm! We provide the tile, paints, brushes, pencils, and all other materials needed.
