Reef fishing trip from Marina de Faro with Captain Pedro Casanova aboard the Katjoa, a perfect experience for families and groups of friends who want a genuinely rewarding day on the water without needing any prior fishing experience. Fishing three to five nautical miles from the coast over a reef with the boat anchored, using very light tackle and live bait, this is the kind of trip where normally everyone gets fish. Main targets include seabream, snapper, dentex, grouper, mackerel, conger eel, rockfish and scorpionfish among others. Priced per experience for up to five people. You keep the catch.

Captain Pedro brings a level of expertise and passion to every trip that is genuinely rare. His tournament career spans the All Millionaire Pacific Circuit, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament and the South Africa World Championship, and his boat the Katjoa has been upgraded this winter 2026 with a new omni sonar and a new electric Minn Kota, technology that data from major tournaments suggests can increase catch rates by 60 to 84 percent compared to boats without omnidirectional sonar. When booking please keep in mind that Captain Pedro typically needs a maximum of two days to order live bait.

    Hey, I'm Captain Pedro Casanova
    Faro, Portugal
    Background
"It is not the great days of fishing or tournament wins that make me love it so much, it's the small details of each day that remind me of how lucky I am. It can be the most action-filled day of White Marlin or Tuna fishing or the longest, roughest, and most uncomfortable crossing I've ever made, either way, it's my job. And I'm happy to do it. Of course, it's not all record-breaking days and tournament wins. There are certainly frustrating days but then I realize that I am doing something that I love. When we raise a double or a triple, I forget about looking up and get excited about fishing all over again." Captain Pedro holds numerous tournament awards from All Millionaire Pacific Circuit Tournaments, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, and the South Africa WorldChampionship – to name a few. This winter 2026, we made 2 major upgrades, in our boat; now we have a new omni sonar, and a new electric iron Min Kota; both to help us to improve fishing. Numbers from the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament indicate that boats using omni sonar can experience catch rates 60% to 84% higher than those without this powerful technology. No one would argue with the premise that omnidirectional sonar is a great fish-catching tool.
