Marisa Grilo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portugal whose practice moves between ceramics, printmaking, and expressive illustration. Her work is deeply influenced by nature, tactile processes, and experimentation with materials. She is co-founder of doBARRO, a ceramics studio and shop in Porto dedicated to creative exploration and hands-on making. Marisa is also a member of the collective Squid Ink Works and has over five years of experience working directly with children and diverse audiences through artistic activities and workshops. Through her practice and teaching, she seeks to create accessible and playful spaces where people can connect with materials, creativity, and slow craft.
Not at all! The workshop is designed for beginners and experienced creatives alike. You’ll be guided through the process, and there are several ways to create your design.
Each participant creates a small mural made up of four ceramic tiles. You can plan a design that connects the tiles or create a composition with individual motifs.
No problem. You can draw directly onto the tiles, transfer your ideas using tracing paper, or use templates and stencils to help create your design. You don’t need to be confident at freehand drawing to enjoy the workshop.
Yes. The €45 price per person includes all the workshop materials and the firing of your finished tiles.
The tiles need to be fired after the session, so they may not be ready to take home immediately. Usually it takes up to 2 weeks to dry and get the tiles ready after.
