Marisa Grilo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portugal whose practice moves between ceramics, printmaking, and expressive illustration. Her work is deeply influenced by nature, tactile processes, and experimentation with materials. She is co-founder of doBARRO, a ceramics studio and shop in Porto dedicated to creative exploration and hands-on making. Marisa is also a member of the collective Squid Ink Works and has over five years of experience working directly with children and diverse audiences through artistic activities and workshops. Through her practice and teaching, she seeks to create accessible and playful spaces where people can connect with materials, creativity, and slow craft.
Not at all! The workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone curious about exploring the connection between drawing and ceramics. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques, with guidance from the instructors.
You’ll explore different ways to mark, print, and transfer drawings onto clay, discovering how graphic elements can create interesting images and textures on ceramic surfaces.
You can experiment with different graphic ideas, including lines, patterns, marks, and images. The workshop focuses on exploring the relationship between drawing, texture, and form, giving you room to develop your own visual approach.
Yes. The €50 price per person includes all materials needed for the workshop and the firing of your ceramic work.
Your ceramic work needs to be fired after the workshop, so it may not be ready to take home immediately. Ask the organisers about the expected collection timeframe.
