Organic wine visit and tasting at Esporão in Alentejo for anyone who wants to understand how one of Portugal’s most respected estates makes its wines, starting in the vineyard and ending in the glass. Understanding wine properly starts before you ever open a bottle, and this experience at Esporão begins exactly there: in the vineyards, where the conversation about organic production and how the land shapes everything that follows begins. From the vines, the visit moves through the Monte Velho and Lagares Wineries, exploring the different winemaking processes that define Herdade do Esporão before arriving at the tasting, where whites and reds from across the estate reveal the full range of what this landscape produces, from fresh and fruity to elegant and full-bodied. Children are welcome and the experience runs daily in both English and Portuguese.

The vineyard walk gives your group the context to understand the choices being made in the winery: why organic production matters here, how the Alentejo terroir expresses itself through the vines and what the estate is trying to achieve with each of its wines. The winery visit covers the two distinct production facilities at Esporão, Monte Velho and Lagares, each with its own approach and character. The tasting that follows brings it all together, moving through white wines with fruity and fresh characteristics and red wines with the elegance and depth that the Alentejo is known for, with guidance throughout on what to look for in each glass.

    More about your Teacher Esporão

    Esporão

Set in the heart of Portugal’s Alentejo region, Esporão represents a deep respect for the land, tradition, and innovation—values that resonate strongly with me.

My experience here is rooted in creating meaningful connections between people and the products of the land. Through immersive wine tastings and olive oil experiences, I aim to guide visitors on a sensory journey—one that highlights not only the flavors and aromas, but also the stories, craftsmanship, and sustainability behind each bottle and harvest.

Working closely with both wine and olive production allows me to share a holistic perspective of Alentejo’s rich agricultural heritage. Whether introducing guests to the nuances of terroir in a glass of wine or the complexity of a freshly pressed olive oil, my goal is always to create authentic, memorable experiences.

At Esporão, every detail matters—from the vineyard to the table—and I take pride in being part of a team that values quality, sustainability, and genuine hospitality. This role allows me to combine knowledge, storytelling, and passion to deliver experiences that stay with people long after they leave.
