There is far more to olive oil tasting than most people realise, and this experience at Esporão exists to change that. A guided visit to the Esporão mill walks you through the full production process behind one of the Alentejo’s finest organic olive oils, from grove to bottle, before moving into a tasting of extra virgin olive oils paired with slow-fermentation bread that brings every aroma and flavour into focus. Available as a technical tasting for those who want depth or a simpler guided tasting for a more accessible introduction. Ideal for groups and open from a minimum of two participants.

The visit covers the production decisions that define quality in olive oil: the varieties used, the harvesting methods, the pressing process and how each choice along the way affects the final result in the bottle. The tasting that follows gives you the sensory tools to actually taste what those decisions produce, working through the oils with guidance on aroma, texture, bitterness, fruitiness and the characteristics that distinguish a great extra virgin olive oil from everything else on the shelf. The slow-fermentation bread pairing is not an afterthought but a deliberate choice that allows the oils to express themselves fully against a neutral and complementary base.

    More about your Teacher Esporão

    Esporão

Set in the heart of Portugal’s Alentejo region, Esporão represents a deep respect for the land, tradition, and innovation—values that resonate strongly with me.

My experience here is rooted in creating meaningful connections between people and the products of the land. Through immersive wine tastings and olive oil experiences, I aim to guide visitors on a sensory journey—one that highlights not only the flavors and aromas, but also the stories, craftsmanship, and sustainability behind each bottle and harvest.

Working closely with both wine and olive production allows me to share a holistic perspective of Alentejo’s rich agricultural heritage. Whether introducing guests to the nuances of terroir in a glass of wine or the complexity of a freshly pressed olive oil, my goal is always to create authentic, memorable experiences.

At Esporão, every detail matters—from the vineyard to the table—and I take pride in being part of a team that values quality, sustainability, and genuine hospitality. This role allows me to combine knowledge, storytelling, and passion to deliver experiences that stay with people long after they leave.
