I am a dedicated lazy cook and proud of it. My sourdough bread workshop in Lisbon is built around one idea: the shortest, simplest path to a genuinely delicious loaf of bread. No complicated schedules, no fussy techniques, no pretending that bread needs to take over your life. Just the real method that works, taught the way I actually use it at home.

We go through the full process together, from mixing and folding to understanding what your dough is telling you at each stage. I also walk you through how to keep your sourdough starter alive the lazy way, because what is the point of learning to bake if the starter dies two weeks later. By the end of the session you will know exactly what to do, and more importantly, what you can get away with not doing.

I am Sara Di Rocco and I have been baking sourdough the lazy way for long enough to know it works. The workshop runs at my home in Lisbon, under the strict supervision of my cat Covinha. If you have a cat allergy or a strong anti-cat stance, just let me know and we will sort something out.

No experience with bread or baking needed. If you can follow simple steps and do not mind getting a little flour on your clothes, you are ready.

FAQ

Do I need any experience or special equipment to join?

None at all — this workshop is designed for complete beginners. No prior cooking experience, and nothing to bring. Everything you need is provided and I will guide you through each step. Just wear clothes you're comfortable getting flour on.

What is the difference normal bread and sourdough bread?

Sourdough bread is made from a live culture that is highly probiotic and give the notorious acidic flavour profile to the bread.
