Sushi workshop for beginners in Almada at Homie Academy for anyone who wants to learn the essential foundations of sushi preparation using traditional Japanese techniques in a simple and accessible format. This hands-on session covers everything from preparing and seasoning sushi rice and working with nori seaweed to basic fish cutting techniques, assembling makimonos and preparing nigiri, ending with a full tasting meal of everything made during the session. All ingredients, the meal, drinks, recipes and apron are included. No prior experience needed.
The session moves through the full sushi-making process step by step. An introduction to Japanese gastronomy and the essential ingredients of sushi opens the experience before moving into the practical work: traditional sushi rice preparation and seasoning, basic fish cutting and preparation techniques, how to work with and roll nori seaweed, demonstration and hands-on preparation of makimonos and nigiri, and tips on plating and combining flavours. The session closes with a full shared meal where every participant tastes everything they made, with the recipes to take home and keep practising with.
